What they said:   "Beautifully produced, despite the noise floor. The vocals are excellent and Rex certainly shows his experience: the sound is full and rounded, and there's a fantastic balance to the entire track. The tune itself would benefit from a touch of innovation; however, it only just missed the top three - keep 'em coming."

"Out of Film", another great collaboration with Patty's Planet is finished!

Patty Stucki and I decided to try doing another song together, and this one has turned out great as well. I recorded the music tracks, and not knowing if it would be possible for her to sing on it, I sent it to her. Once again, she floored me with her talent and the end result is a great song combining her spacey vocals with electronic and organic sonic elements.

About the first album Pipe Dog:

In 1999 Rex finished the recording of his first independent solo album entitled "Pipe Dog" with the collaboration of two of his friends and musicians Don Kirby and David Suycott.

About David Suycott a.k.a. Stickboy:

David Suycott has been playing drums for a lot of bands, including Stabbing Westward, Skinny, Slam, Machines of Loving Grace, Charlelie Couture, and many others. He's also a former band mate of Rex Tangle, back in the 80's, when Rex still lived in Chicago. David recorded the drum tracks for Rex's album in Chicago, and sent his work to Los Angeles for completion. Dave likes to eat fruits in very large quantities at a very fast speed, and is known for grunting for no reason at all. He's a pretty good pool player too. In fact he excels at any activities that include a stick. Give that boy a stick, and watch him do his magic !

About Don Kirby:

Don Kirby has played with many bands and artists, including Ravi Shankar, Ray Manzarek, and other Los Angeles bands. Don has studied Indian music, and plays sitar, tanpura, guitar, but also collects Vintage Synths, which he uses in his own home studio, where he recorded some of his tracks for "Pipe Dog". Don is famous for turning on his "machines" in the middle of the night, and making his Moog howl like a choir of mad elephants, conducted by a chimp doing a mean "Macarena". He's friendly, funny, but also he can be a very bad monkey. Trust me, I know... He used to be my neighbour !

About Rex Tangle:

Rex has been playing bass and guitar for many bands over the years (read bio) but he mostly enjoys playing with himself ! (Yeah, I know it sounds bad).
